Invasive or Non Invasive?

Have you been diagnosed with bone on bone knee osteoarthritis? Here are 2 of the major treatment options available. One is invasive and one non-invasive.

Regenerative Treatment vs Surgery Comparison

Downtime None 3 to 6 months
Improvement 1 year 70%+ 80%+
Cost $4500 Up to $10,000 out of pocket
Procedure Time 15 - 20 Minutes + Hours
Pain Relief 3 Weeks 40% 0%
Side Effects None Infection, Embolism, Death
4 phases

Chronic Knee Pain? Which Phase Are You?

Almost 10% of the United States population suffers from symptomatic knee osteoarthritis by the age of 60. Image A. shows a normal knee of a younger person. Note the spacing in the joint. Image D shows advanced degeneration of the knee which may require surgery.

As we age, our joints degenerate and so do the stem cells in our bodies which regenerate our cartilage, muscle and bone which can no longer keep the pace required to maintain a healthy joint.

Knee pain is often caused by wear and tear and activities such as golf, tennis or skiing. Your orthopedic physician/surgeon will often suggest invasive knee surgery to resolve chronic knee pain but it is important to know there is an alternative. Stem cell knee injections are fast becoming the answer to resolving acute and chronic knee pain as an alternative to knee replacement surgery.

The REAL Facts on Stem Cell Therapy

Our study is complete and the data is in! Our patients have experienced an average of 53% improvement in mobility and pain relief after 12 weeks, 65% after 6 months and over 70%* after 1 year. Why risk invasive surgery - sign up for a free consultation to see if your a candidate.

We are there for you in every step of the process...

Pre - Procedure

  • Educational Seminar and Webinar Series. Our goal is to educate our patients at every stage. We provide education to help you better understand our procedures and make the best decision possible.
  • If we can help we will schedule an in office consultation with one of our physicians. This visit includes an evaluation and ultrasound of the joint you are having issues with. We will request or you can bring any current Xrays or MRI's and our physician will determine if you are a candidate for our procedure.
  • Treatment details are then discussed and a date for the procedure is determined.

  • The procedure is an non invasive ultrasound guided injection. This procedure usually takes 15-20 minutes

Post - Procedure

  • 8 week follow up post injection includes evaluation for any rehab required. We recommend either an at home exercise program or a physical therapy program.
  • three month follow up
  • six month follow up
  • one year follow  up
  • Additional booster injections are available if needed.

My Knees Are Pain Free

It’s been 5 and a half months. I’m doing well. My knees are pain free, the swelling is gone in both knees. There’s still a little fluid in the left knee, but that’ll go away with time. The spacing of the bones are fine and the cartilage is looking good. I’m doing well, I’m working out at the gym three days a week and my trainer is slowly getting me back into lower body exercises to accommodate the buildup of strength in my legs.

I Am Looking Forward To Getting My Life Back

I was unable to do much walking, no golf, no tennis and I was hobbling around so much I worried about throwing my back out. I was in constant bone on bone pain. I had my injection… I have shown steady, if slow, progress ever since. I am now walking 4 to 5 miles a week. I am playing golf with little or no pain or stiffness… I will wait at least another month before I try tennis, but I am looking forward to getting my life back!

Thank you for the help and professionalism.

C. Norton

I am very happy that I made the decision

X-rays and a MRI showed me to be bone-on-bone, and I had received a steroid injection – without any relief. It was difficult to walk up and down stairs and walk on uneven ground. Within 6 weeks, a sonogram showed space between the leg bones and it was more comfortable for me to walk and do stairs. I returned almost 8 months later for a follow-up – another sonogram showed still more space.

Amniotic Membrane Allograft Injections

StemX regenerative medicine stem cell treatments use only  Amniotic Membrane Allograft injections from Surgenex™.

What is Amniotic Membrane Allograft?

The amniotic membrane is the innermost layer of the placental membranes, and consists of two different cell populations: amnion epithelial cells, and amnion mesenchymal stem cells. When implanted, the amniotic membrane can provide anti-bacterial, antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties. Aside from these properties, the membrane can also serve as a scaffold and substrate for the migration, adhesion, and growth of resident cells and thus find widespread applications in regenerative medicine and cellular therapy.1.

StemX uses only Surgenex SurForce™ Amniotic Membrane Allograft for our regenerative medicine procedures.

Amniotic Mesenchymal Stem Cells

What are Mesenchymal Stem Cells?

Amniotic membrane tissue contain mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) which have been proven to offer great promise for cell-based therapies as these cells are capable of extensive self-renewal.

Placenta amnion membrane tissue has been found to be a rich and valuable source of mesenchymal stem cells  which is bio-equivalent to Bone Marrow-mesenchymal stem cells. 1.

Mesenchymal stem cells are multipotent and exert anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects. They can differentiate into multiple cell types and can be used to treat orthopedic conditions such as osteoarthritis, meniscal, tendon, and ligament injuries.  1.

The use of MSCs in orthopedics is transitioning the practice in the field from predominately surgical replacement and reconstruction to bioregeneration and prevention.

StemX Amniotic Membrane Tissue Injections

StemX exclusively uses SurForce® for our regenerative medicine procedures. SurForce contains a rich source of amniotic membrane that naturally reduces pain and inflammation while helping the healing process of damaged joints, cartilage, tendons, ligaments, and other soft tissues. It is the most concentrated injectable amniotic membrane on the market today.

Clean and SAFE

SurForce® is thoroughly tested for safety in clinical procedures. The donor serology test panel is the most extensive in the industry.

SURGENEX® conducts a 14-day bacterial/fungal test performed by a third party lab, to confirm our products are free of bacterial and fungal contaminants. These safety barriers verify that SurForce® is the cleanest and safest amniotic membrane tissue allograft product on the market.

Amniotic Membrane:

The REAL facts about amniotic tissue

The Myths of Amniotic Membrane Tissue

  1. Myth 1. Amniotic Stem Cells are delivered in a powder form and the stem cells are dead. This statement is false - Surgenex™ Surfactor is Cryopreserved and shipped frozen with a short shelf life. The mesenchymal stem cells in amniotic membrane tissue are present and alive. (Source: How do you determine live stem cells? Click Here), (Source: Surgenex Cell Viability Study. Click Here), (Source: Surgenex wins court case. Click here)
  2. Myth 2. Amniotic membrane tissue has fewer stem cells than bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells. False - Amniotic membrane tissues has been found to be a rich and valuable source of mesenchymal stem cells - bio equivalent to bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells. (Source: 10.3390/cells1041061)
  3. Myth 3. Amniotic fluid injections are mostly composed of baby urine. That statement is true. StemX uses only amniotic membrane tissue injections from Surgenex. We do not use amniotic fluid injections.
